As I have posted previously, I have taken a small group of kids (6-8) & used the summer to implement USRPT. Our head coach just resigned so our team will now be 100% USRPT across the board…..I’M PUMPED (now what to do about that pesky high school training).

We are about 8 weeks into our training. We went to 3 LC meets this summer (including champs). The first one was about 3 weeks into training…..it was NOT good. Second was about 5 weeks into training…..it was better.

Our 3rd was last wknd, I took 2 14yo (1 boy, 1 girl) to Champs. They had a total of 6 swims (3 each) and dropped a combined 13.73 seconds!!! Made finals, got AAA cuts, etc…

The best part wasn’t even the times, it was watching their bodies “compete like we train.” They held pace, technique, etc. Our warmup was almost identical to our practice warmup & they were mentally ready. It was great to see. The girl (my daughter) had pretty close swims on Sat. 50 free (got the AAA cut), then not too long to 100bak (dropped 6 seconds).

pretty cool to see & just wanted to share

    drpaul,
I’d be interested to know what were their pace times for 25s, 50s and 75s (if you did them)

Also what were their 1st 50 splits of 100s and 2nd 50 splits? What was the 1st 50 split of 200s and the average of 50s 2, 3, & 4 in the 200s? Their splits for the 2IM?

Trying to see if there is a correlation between practice and race speeds.

    Thanks,

    Oldschool
