ParticipantThanks, oldschool.
You always make me think. And that’s what I want.
Yes, tempo is an issue. I hear you on mastery as well. Turns and UWs can certainly be better.
Two question for you.
1. How do you time turns to get 1.0 – 1.2?
2. Do you use mostly 25s, 50s or 75s for 200 free training? Thanks again so much.

ParticipantThanks Gary P. Good food for thought. Low to mid 20s for 50s and high teens for 75s, puts us a little beyond 5X for the 200 free. Do you consistently train at the higher level of the 3-5X rule for your mid-distance swimmers?
Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

Not training got 300

ParticipantThanks. Only reason I said “mix’ was the Rushall slide that looked at men sprint, women sprint, men distance and women distance and the only possible correlation showed that women distance may be beneficial to add to USRPT.
What do you mean by 0.987 – 0.957 on back half correlations to 200? I am not sure I followed you.
Thanks for training program.

You know anything about the study that showed a correlation between power rack and speed? Our HC quotes it. We use it. Rushall scoffed when we brought it up at his seminar.

One more Q. Any notable correlations with length of swim? Really interested in USRPT data and distance training.
Thanks again.

ParticipantLove it. Just love it. You ever think about publishing or presenting your data at a swim conference?
I gotta ask again about your “numbers made at pace” metric. How calculated? Do you do it across strokes? Or dies a kid have a “number made at pace” for each stroke?
Again, thanks for the analytics. Really good info.

ParticipantNot to be flippant but, as Doc would say, you don’t swim with paddles in meets.
More serious, what do you hope to get from this version of USEPT.

ParticipantWhat kind of “endurance” did you do 3-4 weeks out?
Taper?
What do you mean 45% PB?
Kinda hard to comment without details.
Good luck.

ParticipantWe use energy and enthusiasm on deck and in the water to prevent boredome. Lots of encouragement/teaching. We pair lanes to race side by side. We ask our captains and seniors to lead. We prep our sets so they know what we are asking and why. We create and feed off energy.

ParticipantWith that number, you will have to be super prepared each day and quickly organize your lanes by stroke and goal times.
We run a large high school time and have had up to 11 in a lane for 25 free.
Good luck.

ParticipantSchool,
We have been noodling this idea. Can you set the pacer for a second interval to account for rest (e.g. 30 secs for race pace, 20 secs for rest on 50s? if not, does the swimmer have to activate the pacer for each swim?
You like using it? The kids like it?
Thanks.

ParticipantI wonder of it is more important to do a larger multiple of the race when distance training. For example, is 5X better in distance training than 3X.
Just wondering out loud.

ParticipantWe have one season under our belt with both boys and girls. Qualitatively and semi-quantitatively, we think both did well. Can’t say one better than other. Analyses ongoing. Stay tuned.
And, yes, we have the thought that girls may do better with distance work blended in. No data, just interpretation of data recently presented at Rushall clinic.

ParticipantWe do thinks similar to TSV. For 25 sets, we sit out two (to stay with group. For 50, sets we sit out one. For 75 sets, we sit out one (walk around to get back with group).
Thanks TSV for record keeping ideas. Not easy.
